I was commissioned to produce two pieces of printed material for The Amelia;
A Family Guide & A Visitor Guide.
The Amelia is based in Tunbridge Wells, and is an amazingly unique space in that it holds (like a museum) all the rich history of Tunbridge Wells, but also is the main council building, and runs all the usual council services. It also has a prominent main library and children’s library, and runs creative courses in their many workshop rooms.
It was important that these printed materials helped visitors understand the function of the building, but also navigate and discover the archives. It was also important to stick to the newly created brand colours and guidelines.
For the Family Guide, it was important it helped children way-find around the building, and engage with the curious artefacts and history on display. I felt it was important to let the objects speak for themselves, and felt collage paired with simple, playful line drawings worked best for this.
For the Visitor Guide, this was essential it met both needs; helping people understand this is a space where they can find council help and services, but also remind them they can access the archives and history of Tunbridge Wells (for free!) in their local town.
